Need to Get Rid of Things After Organizing Your Home? Here Are 3 Great Options...

You did it! You've done the hard work and decluttered your home. But now you're left with piles of all that unwanted clutter. What do you do with all the “stuff”?

Below are 3 great options to get rid of the clutter:

OPTION 1: Give Back by Donating

Getting rid of unwanted items in your home is the gift that keeps on giving. The clothes that no longer fit you, or books you’ve already read could be just what someone else is in dire need of...it's a win-win! Donating your used clothing, books, toys or furniture is a great solution after you've organized your home. Below are some of our favorite local resources based in Los Angeles. Do you live in another part of the country? No problem. Some of these resources are National charities, so you can Google your local branches.

OPTION 2: Get a Little Extra by Selling

OPTION 3: Go Green by Recycling

Often, we're left with household items and we're unsure as to where to properly dispose of them. A garage clean-out might mean you're left with old paint cans and other hazardous materials. A recent move might result in a pile of electronics that are so old your kids don't even know what they do. Knowing where to drop these things off will make your next decluttering session so much easier to tackle! Be sure to save this if you're planning on moving anytime soon!

PERMANENT COLLECTION CENTERS

This is a free option for Los Angeles County residents to properly dispose of household hazardous and electronic waste (HHW/e-waste). Residents can drop off items such as paint, solvents, chemicals, computers, batteries, cell phones, fluorescent lights, etc.

City of Los Angeles S.A.F.E. Permanent Collection Centers usual hours of operation are Saturdays, and Sundays, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

PRO TIP: Now that you have lots of great solutions to get rid of your unwanted items...don't procrastinate! If you leave the bags and boxes for too long you may start second-guessing the items you've purged or accumulate more clutter. Keep the momentum you've created and follow through with the entire decluttering process. Remember, one person's trash is another person's treasure!
